PARDUBICE – OFFCITY TRIP: MADE IN FINLAND

Ohrazenice is a small village between Pardubice and the chemical industry areas in Semtín and Rybitví. In the 1950s, there arose a small colony of Finnish Log Homes here. The wooden duplex houses were really brought here from Finland, which was the only country that was able to provide homes for 200 families of workers from the factories nearby. Their lifetime was originally estimated to be 30 years, but most of the houses still exist and provide high-quality living. But thermal insulation and other insensitive transformations change the character of this urbanistically interesting place. Architect Ondřej Teplý and architecture historian František R. Václavík.
