Big cities are fashionable and enchanting. But are they also good places to live? Visionary architect Jan Gehl and his colleagues try to design cities as places of community and proximity. They want to free cities from the hegemony of cars and create more space for pedestrians and cyclists. They want to “take back the public space”. The film recounts 40 years of city planning and shows that we can create life among buildings. Human scale is a documentary sci-fi from the future. From the future that has already come.
