Letná is both a district in the centre of Prague and the world for itself. It has the impressive character and the cultural life of a historical city district. But it is also surrounded by parks and nature. Letná has all prerequisites to become one of the finest places for life in Prague. But today, Letná has experienced several projects and interventions that either ignore or even destroy its genius loci. Letná has thus become a fragile organism, whose long-term future depends on the principal decisions of today. Letná needs understanding and a vision, which would enable not only to preserve its uniqueness but also to develop it with coherent urbanism and fine architecture. Architecture historian Richard Biegl will present the beauties, the particularities and the problems of the Letná district.
